3D Printing on DIYbio Orbital Shaker Completed

June 27, 2018 | ATL

Here is the DIYbio 3D printed orbital shaker v2.0 fitted together after 3D printing was finished up. The motion control works perfectly. We still have to wire it up and friction weld (or glue) the ball bearings in place.

The platform is 250mm wide and 150mm deep. It includes an adjustable bar system for holding containers in place. We might have to work on the knobs a little more, but they do work as is.

V2.0 is pictured next to our original prototype (right). More information and a video of the original prototype in action can be found here. It was a bit top heavy and its platform lacked space for many real-world applications we wanted to try. V2.0 solves both problems.

Our DIYbio lab equipment projects are meant to spark interest in opensource biotech and start getting these tools into the hands of more innovators. For a look at all our previous projects now up on Thingiverse, see here
